News and Notes of Interest at Camelaird
In Memory of Betty
We are adding and updating the WEB site on a regular basis.  Please excuse any missing links and Typos.  Last Update - June 15, 2011

On Fathers Day (2006) Betty Crossed Over The Rainbow Bridge.  We Continue to Miss Her Deeply

FC Spike Moon Pie MH (Pie)

We recently lost our beloved Field Champion Pie.  This was due to old age and we had many wonderful years with Pie.  Pie became a Field Trial Dog at an age when most English Springer Field Dogs retire.  He went on to becoming one of the oldest Springer ever to earn his FC (Field Champion).  He sired some of the best of the best Field Trial dogs of which were extremly proud.

In September 2010 Leia crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.  She fought a hard battle with Cancer having three operations with in 110 days.  We just could not stop the cancer.  During her recovery on the third operation it migrated to her lungs and she was in terrific pain.  I had to let her go.  See the memorial page for my write up on her crossing the bridge.

A Little Background and History
The name Camelaird is "Old English" for Camelot. We always liked the Camelaird theme with the knights of old and the wonderful lush forests. Our little piece of the forest is located in the lush rolling hills of rural America.  While these rolling hills are in Ohio they do provide us a feeling of being in the forests of Old England Camelaird.

Some 25 years ago we feel in love with the loving nature of the English Springer Spaniel and this love affair continues today. We began this affair with the
Field Bred English Springers. We enjoyed watching them run and work in the field. While working with the field bred Springers we were introduced to the show bred (bench) English Springer. We just had to include them in our kennel. With some help from our field bred Springer friends we were able to welcome a wonderful 10 week old pup to our kennel who became
Ch Linran's Magical Serenade our first show AKC Champion.

This success enhanced our love for the show bred English Springer causing us to focus our efforts on showing conformation Springers. With a lot of support and guidance from a bunch of wonderful and helpful conformation folks, we have been fortunate to have a couple of top conformation Springers in the United States (number 7 and number 13).

In addition we have continued our efforts with the field bred Springers and now have some top competing field trial Springers. We can not think of not having both the field bred and the show bred Springers in our lives.

We Add Sussex Spaniels To Camelaird Kennels
With the wonderful success we had with Springers, we began looking for a complementary breed. WE FOUND IT, the Sussex Spaniel. What a great addition to our kennel! These little brown jobs are just something else! They bring new meaning to having a sense of humor when living with dogs. Now we are very active with both breeds in conformation and field work. We strive for the betterment of the breed through sound and intelligent breeding practices. Temperament being one of our higher priorities. We travel around the country to the major shows and field trials. You will know we are there if you see a large tan Motor Home Bus with Camelaird Spaniels on the back. If you see the bus at a show or field trial, stop in and talk to us and meet our gang.
